Becoming a Member
Once you are a member of the club, there is
nothing extra to pay. The floodlights are included, and there is
usually an ample supply of good quality used match balls in the
clubhouse for you to use.
Joining the club is
simple. Just follow these steps:
- Decide what class of membership is appropriate: this determines
your annual membership fee. The fee covers the cost of using the
courts and includes the use of floodlights for evening play. The
available classes of membership and fees for 2008 are:
- Senior: (£138) Full membership for adults. Senior
members may use the courts all year round, from dawn to 10
p.m. (subject to court allocation priorities -- see Activities
page).
- Junior: (£34) The class for full members up to the age
of 18 who do not have a parent as a full member.
- Weekday: (£69) A restricted class of membership giving
access to courts during weekdays up to 6.30 p.m., and to all the
social tournaments.
- Junior of Senior: (£17) A reduced fee for full members up to the age
of 18 who have a parent as a full member.
- Senior Citizen: (£90) Full membership for adults aged 65
and over.
- Young Persons: (£44) The class for full members who are
under 22 or are in full-time education.
- Country: (£69) A special membership class for members who live more than 30 miles from the club.
- Associate: (£69) Membership for adults who are also members of another tennis club. Associate members are not eligible to play in teams.
- Note: Annual renewal date is April 1st each year. The late payment penalty is £10. New members
joining late in the year (after September 1st) will get a pro-rata
reduction of their subscription.
- Print out a copy of the membership
application form. (pdf file) (Word version) (OpenDocument Text version).
- Fill in your details.
Families may use a
single form for all members who are joining.
- New members pay a one-off £10 joining fee, and in addition may elect pay a
£5 deposit to be issued with a key to the clubhouse.
- Names and contact details of members are circulated only to club
members. If you do not want your details to be made available to other
club members, tick the privacy box on your form.
- Sign and date your form and send it with a stamped addressed
envelope and a cheque (payable to Abingdon Lawn Tennis Club) for your
membership fee to Bev Woodcock, Membership Secretary, ALTC, C/o 12
Hendred Way, Abingdon, OX14 2AN.
